I need to know how the Moog synthesizer. What are the modules? What is an oscillator? How should work together to create sounds? Help
There are many different Moog there. However, I will discuss a standard analog synthesizer Moog Minimoog. In a modular synthesizer, all components of the mixture are separate modules, and must be connected by connecting wires to create the sound. This gives more freedom in synthesizer of how a signal moves between modules. In a keyboard-controlled synthesizer is pre-defined signal. A synthesizer creates sounds using analog electronic circuits. The oscillator is a circuit that is the basis of sound. Generate several different waveforms. They are generally saw-tooth (which has a busy tone) or square wave (which sounds Reedie). Some keyboards have a sine wave output as well (in a very soft). They are usually sent to a filtering circuit (for a Moog, usually a filter low pass). A filter waveform ways to filter the harmonics of the wave. If you hear a wah wah on a guitar, which should give you an idea of how a filter shapes of sounds (a wah is a special filter called a bandpass filter). After the amplifier which is controlled by an envelope generator (which creates the dynamics of sound, sounds like a short chains or the attacks provided a violin bow). The keyboard can control the height of the oscillator (and sometimes the response of the filter). In general, buttons that control the cutting and the resonance of the filter and the parameters for the envelope generator. There are plenty of resources on the Web explain this better than me.
